Playing With Players

You have a you tube video feed if you have a channel. You can put a “youtube” player with videos on your website or blog now. In fact you don’t need a channel, you can use a google gadget and use any channels .xml video feed…..

Google video gadgets are free and easy. You can make one in seconds and have a nice gadget – with nothing on it. I was looking at the gadget on a website today and thought (again) that it was a nice addition.

I’d messed around with some google gadgets when I first started learning about “How To Build a Website” but didn’t find anything really useful (to me) other than the translate module.

Anyway I thought I’d play around with a gadget so I made one. Then I couldn’t find any info on how to get my videos onto the gadget. I could copy another code and have somebody else’s stuff show up, but what if I wanted to change it? Update it? Have it update automatically?

As you can see I finally got this other little player to show video from my “youtube” channel. After a lot of messing around I found I just needed to change one word. People who are familiar with code can look and see which word I changed. If not, you can ask.

You can also make a player like this one below and choose “Playlist” or “Favorite” when asked what you’d like associated with your player (in set up). Anyway, there it is, Thought it might be helpful….
