Addiction Help: Insecurity

Insecurity: The frequency

A long time ago I read something that over the course of the years I’ve found to be true. What I read was that anger was a manifestation of fear. Another thing I read that likewise proved out was that there are only to base emotions – Love and Fear.

What we’ve talked about recently is Life being a Frequency. Every frequency will manifest different physical states: Solids, liquids, Gases and Plasmas. Love also has a frequency, as does fear. They too manifest different states: anxiety, envy, affection, kindness and so on.

What happened in my life as the result of this “Life as a Frequency” knowledge was – It ruined anger for me. I couldn’t get mad without this little voice saying, “What are you afraid of”. That’s no fun. We all know people who have what they call bad tempers. They tell you about their bad tempers with a sort of pride. You can hardly hold the same romanticism knowing you’re really just scared.

Anger is completely unnecessary. You’ve probably heard professionals say that we can, and should, channel our anger into positive action. Seems kind of silly once we’re in possession of the facts.

Insecurity

We’ve also talked about what we might call human instinct. We came up with security as one of these instincts. If you want your life to be simplified overnight all you have to do is stop looking at manifestation as the problem. Manifestation cannot be dealt with effectively as long as we remain unaware of the underlying emotional frequency.

If you think of dealing with the hundreds of possible manifested states it seems really complicated. In fact any attempt to deal with all of these manifestations is overwhelmingly complicated. That’s why there are so many different departments, and college degrees, created to deal with them.

They’re all unnecessary. You can learn all there is to know about life, that’s known, on your own – without spending a bunch of money. You can deal with any personal manifestation effectively, on your own, once you understand the way things work.

What I want to do with this article is allow people to look around and see the fear, manifesting as insecurity, at all levels of society. When we understand this basic concept: That two emotions, or frequencies, are producing all emotional states, we can analyse the underlying condition in everyone and everything we observe. We’ll know – Where they’re coming from.

What we’ll see is rampant insecurity. What is war, but fear? What is competition, but fear? What is jealousy, hate, bigotry, greed, avarice and so on – but fear?

Trickle Down Insecurity

What we have, at least in the US, is –  fear as government. The people who would rule the world: Corporate and banking interests, are driven by their deep insecurities (fear). What we live under today are their “Policies of Insecurity”.

These policies influence the insecure people living in the society they control. Control, is a manifestation of fear. Submission to that control, is a manifestation of fear. Fear makes the dysfunctional wheel go round.

As soon as we start to look at people and judge them accurately we won’t be susceptible to manipulation. We’ll see policies like, The War on Drugs and The War on Cancer, for what they are – policies of insecurity. Remember, War is a fear based activity. So any use of the word war, connected with policy, is playing on the fears of a society. Fear based people use fear as the motivator for public compliance – always.

Okay, see where you get with this idea and since we’re looking at frequency – here is a good place to experiment with changing our own frequencies. Take a look at – Solfeggio Arpeggio 396, 417, 528, 639, 741, 852, 963

Start Taking Your God Damn Vitamins

I read an article by a blog guru that said writers should write like they normally talk. Okay, that’s how I normally talk. If your struggling with relapse – start by taking your god damn vitamins.

I put a new blog up the other day. It focuses solely on nutritional therapy for addiction detox and recovery. Obviously I think it’s that important. You can see it at addictionshelp.org. Also see this article on stress reduction at dgswilson.com/health-blog/adrenal-gland-treatment

The following is an article on the media coverage of vitamins and health.

By, Jeffrey Dach, M.D.,

Negative articles on vitamins are seen in the mass media. Usually, these are funded directly or indirectly by drug companies, and the researchers are paid to come up with negative findings in order to discredit vitamins so people will take more drugs. It is a simple matter of follow the money trail.

When the studies are done by a neutral party such as the Chinese government, the results are closer to reality. A study from Linxian province in China showed a 9 per cent reduction in mortality from only three vitamins: E, A and selenium. They also showed a 13% reduction in cancer mortality, and a 21% reduction in gastric cancer mortality.(2) Another study showed selenium supplementation prevented esophageal cancer, heart disease, stroke, and total death: (3) Folate supplementation in pregnant mothers prevents birth defects (Neural Tube defects) in the developing fetus.(4)(5) Vitamin C prevents coronary artery disease and a variety of other chronic diseases: (6)(7) Vitamin B-12 supplementation is recommended by the USDA for everyone over the age of 50. (US dept of Agriculture 2005 Food Guidelines)(14)(8) In fact there are volumes of research data showing benefits of vitamin supplementation.(9)

The Bottom Line, Be Skeptical of News Media

Bottom line is that you can’t believe the newspapers or media when it comes to vitamin, mineral or nutritional supplements, because the media depends on advertising revenue from the drug companies. The media will therefore tend to run stories which are negative for vitamins and supplements, which in comparison makes the drug ads look good. The reality is that by and large, vitamins are safe, and drugs are dangerous. Adverse effects from drugs cause 140,000 deaths and 76 billion a year in health care annually.(15)(16)

So remember to be skeptical of news media stories which have a hidden agenda.
Direct-to-Consumer drug advertising is also largely deceptive and misleading, and should be banned here in the US as it has been banned in all other countries (with the exception of New Zealand).

Which Vitamins Require Caution?

The water soluble vitamins (C and B complex) are readily excreted in the urine and therefore can be taken at high doses with no ill effects. The fat soluble vitamins A and D, however, can accumulate and cause toxicity at high doses over prolonged periods, so these must be monitored. We routinely measure vitamin D blood levels, and supplement Vitamin D with serial monitoring of blood levels. Also, Vitamin E and fish oils have a blood thinning effect, which can cause bleeding tendencies. Most anesthesiologists will recommend avoiding Vitamin E and fish oils prior to elective surgery to avoid bleeding.

Dr. John Briffa is a London-based doctor and author with an interest in nutrition and natural medicine. My opinion is this review’s weaknesses and limitations mean that it’s hard to draw any conclusions from it. The selective approach to selecting studies, the very variable protocols of the studies, and the fact that the focus was on high doses of synthetic nutrients, means that this review has little or no relevance to individuals taking, say, a multivitamin and mineral each day as nutritional insurance.

The Chemical Carousel

New Book: The Chemical Carousel: What Science Tells Us About Beating Addiction

This is an in-depth examination of addiction science and medical treatments for drug dependence and alcoholism, written by an experienced science and business journalist.

April 28, 2009 — ”The Chemical Carousel: What Science Tells Us About Beating Addiction” by Dirk Hanson, is a new book for anyone concerned with the care and healing of addiction, substance abuse, and the latest advances in the area of addiction science. Author Hanson has written a vital resource for friends and families of addicts and alcoholics, as well as health groups and substance abuse professionals.

The amazing growth of addiction science has led to new understandings about the biochemical, emotional, and cognitive processes that give rise to substance addiction. In this accessible and straightforward examination, ”The Chemical Carousel” looks at the history of drug use, and abuse; the drugs themselves; treatment methods; and alternate approaches to addiction, while presenting the compelling and surprising advances that have changed the landscape of addiction science. Written with the layperson in mind, this book is a must read for anyone interested in addiction, its causes, and its challenges.

Extended Description

Isn’t substance abuse really about weak wills and low self-esteem? Is addiction really a medical condition? Can addicts be cured? Journalist and author Dirk Hanson responds to these and other critical questions about substance abuse, addiction science, and human nature in his eminently accessible and groundbreaking new book, ”The Chemical Carousel: What Science Tells Us About Beating Addiction.”

Addicts have traditionally been taught to think of themselves the way Franz Kafka thought of himself in relation to his own disease: ”Secretly I don’t believe this illness to be tuberculosis … but rather a sign of my general bankruptcy.” Despite decades of official recognition of the disease model of addiction, the traditional view of the addict as an immature and irresponsible person, short on will power, low on self-esteem, and forever at the mercy of his or her “addictive personality,” is still alive and well. Moreover, this outmoded view works at cross-purposes with the goal of helping addicts recognize the need for treatment.

In ”The Chemical Carousel,” science writer Dirk Hanson takes the reader on a voyage through the heady world of addiction science, from the lab to the clinic to the junky on the street. Hanson explains the workings of common neurotransmitters and documents the direct effect drugs and alcohol produce on the reward pathways of the brain. He shows how scientists and treatment professionals have finally given us an answer to the perennial question about addiction: Why can’t those people just say no?

Written in plain English with the layperson in mind, ”The Chemical Carousel: What Science Tells Us About Beating Addiction” presents a thoughtful, compassionate, and straightforward examination of a subject many find arcane and mysterious, but one that takes a huge toll on human lives and national economies worldwide. If you are concerned about addiction, its impact, and the hope for its eventual cure, then ”The Chemical Carousel” is an essential resource and a must read.

We should always consider the source when looking at information. I don’t have an issue with Mr. Hanson. I would look carefully at the funding for the studies cited. People pay millions on studying and lobbying to get there drugs on the market. I don’t personally recommend drug therapy for drug addiction. Except for the first stages of detox. You can find a lot of information at the dgswilson.com Book Store. You may find this Dirk Hanson’s book – look for it.”   Wilson

Author Biography

Dirk Hanson is a freelance science reporter and novelist who lives in Minnesota. His two previous books, ”The New Alchemists: Silicon Valley and the Microlectronics Revolution” and ”The Incursion: A Novel,” were reviewed in the New York Times, The New Yorker, The Los Angeles Times, Fortune, and other publications. He has also worked as a business and technology reporter for the Des Moines Register, and for numerous magazines and trade publications. He currently edits the Addiction Inbox blog.

TEASERS/Facts from the book

As many as 30 percent of suicides every year may come from the nation’s pool of about 22 million alcoholics. Half of all emergency room patients with multiple fractures are alcoholics, according to research by prominent alcohol investigator George Vaillant. Female alcoholics develop liver diseases like cirrhosis more frequently than men do. Alcohol loses most its rewarding properties when brain receptors for opiates are blocked.

–Large numbers of addicted cigarette smokers suffer from clinical depression. Smoking a single cigarette has been likened by one nicotine researcher to ”lighting a match in a gasoline factory.” Women who smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day face an 80 per cent greater risk of developing breast cancer, compared to non-smoking women. Roughly one out of every three women of childbearing age was a cigarette smoker in 1991. Former Surgeon General Everett Koop said tobacco smoking results in ”a thousand funerals a day.”

–Large doses of methamphetamine can trigger psychotic episodes indistinguishable from schizophrenia. Vigabatrin, a drug for the treatment of epilepsy, may turn out to be the first government-approved treatment for meth addiction.

–Recent studies have documented the existence of severe caffeine addicts, who suffer significant depression and impaired cognition for several months following termination of coffee drinking.

–Mice that have been genetic altered so that they lack the ability to taste sweet foods still prefer sugar water to regular water. And PET scans of former bulimics (men suffer from it, too) disclosed that they showed a marked decrease in serotonin binding at 5HT receptors, compared to healthy, age-matched women.

–Between 3 and 7 percent of Americans are “poor metabolizers” due to a genetic variant for the enzyme CYP2D6. For them, the recommended drug dosage can be far too high.

–A significant percentage of regular marijuana users report that they suffer from severe withdrawal symptoms when they abstain completely from pot.
