I write about addiction and recovery. I have recovered from a 35 year heroin and alcohol addiction. My purpose is to share anything I find that might be helpful.
Sometimes these anythings might seem as though they have nothing to do with addiction. What I’ve discovered about addictions, so far, says, “They do…”. Dealing with an addiction isn’t the tough part. Dealing with an addiction is as simple as detox. I can cure all people of their addictions tomorrow. What if I take all the alcoholics and place them in a drug induced coma?
They’re no longer practicing alcoholics. Isn’t that what society wants?
We deal directly with the addiction as long as people are practicing the addiction. Once arrested – that parts over. Now we must look at the actual trouble – People. Instead of dealing only with what, some say, has to do with addiction, I choose to deal with everything that has to do with the person.
That’s not a narrow topic. We’ve just scratched the surface.
