Ever wonder about this. For those of you who may not be familiar with this phrase it’s mentioned at 12 step meetings quite a bit. I always got stuck on it. Didn’t know if it was true or how it could ever be proven.

Here’s what I came up with. It’s true – nothing happens in gods world, or any world, by mistake – because “Mistake” isn’t a thing. Things happens as a result of other things happening. Mistake – is a word.

It didn’t exist until some person somewhere said, “When this type of stuff happens, lets call them mistakes”. Others agreed and so now we have a useful word to help us talk about things. (things that happen) See how it goes? Things happen – then we use words like mistake to talk about them.

Eggs don’t get broken, milk doesn’t get spilled, mouths don’t say the wrong things – by – mistake. These are all things that happened because of other things that happened and that’s how everything happens.

Not only does nothing happen by mistake – mistake doesn’t exist. We made it up.
