The Only Intervention That Works

AA used to do a sit down with alcoholics in detox. We still do. Is that intervention? Not really, it’s more – Introduction.

I watched 10 seconds of an ad (or show, couldn’t tell) on “TV” intervention with addict and family. It was sickening and pissed me off a little. Not much more than most TV shows today, but still, pretty gross.

If you want to do everything you can to help an addict let him know everything there is to know about nutrition and detox. First you’ll need to find out about it yourself. You see, most “rehabilitation programs” are just businesses and don’t know much about people with addictions. Not all….just most. If they’re government funded, they’re crap.

Once you educate yourself, by reading and asking questions, say good bye. Sever the relationship. Son, daughter, wife, mother….See ya when you’re ready. Ready will come sooner without your “help”. You will help by not making the life of the addict easier.

Intervention of the “reality show” type will result in:

1) pissing the addict off even more than they already are
2) getting them into detox, so what, detox isn’t the same as done
