The Search For Source

In all things there is a source. Is this a true statement? I’ve been able to find the source of problems in order to deal with them as far as addiction goes. In our societies troubles I’ve been able to trace back to what I understand as the source – or sources.

In the world of the tangible this isn’t all that hard. We already know what the result is. We stand at the end of the path. So we can just retrace the physical steps that led to that point.

What about the source of Life? My only conclusion is that life is the source of itself. Rather meaningless in the nuts and bolts world but what else can one conclude?

Here is where the real mystery begins. What is the source of me? I can trace me back to a mammalian birth. This would be the end of it but for one thing – Why am I curious? No other animals seem particularly interested in their source. I conclude that if my source is the same as other mammals I wouldn’t be thinking about it. So it’s somehow different. What’s the difference?

Let’s say there is a difference and that the answer to the question of difference will only be got at when the source is known. Is that agreeable?

So the key to knowing is in finding the source. The source of me.

I always think about that guy who does all those talks and on the stage with him he has a round sphere the size of a beach ball that represents source. Sometimes he calls it god. Is that it? I mean, is that what we get? A ball? Okay, so we think there must be a source and the closer we get to the source, according to the speaker, the better our lives will be. Probably true. Seems logical.

What stands out in this set up is – I’m here, source is across the stage. What’s in between? If it was as easy as the demonstration we’d just walk over and connect. Case closed. All humans would locate the source this week and the world would look different because everybody would know the truth about themselves. This hasn’t happened so I guess there is something missing in the presentation.

First of all I think the representation is at fault because it’s linear. There isn’t any linear stuff in the world except in our thinking. We draw lines from one place to another, from one time to another, then we say things like moving forward. In the real world when you move forward along the lines on the map you move backward at the same time. The map was drawn of a globe. Going away from any point leads back to that point.

So the first thing we might want to do is put the speaker and the source at a single point. If it’s not a single point then we can all simply walk over to the sphere. When it is a single point it gets confusing – because we think in lines. How would we locate, or go about finding our source without any lines?

Realization

Is realization of the single point the key to knowing? Should finding be replaced with realizing? Do we just need to realize that we are at the point of source and that there is no where to go? Possibly. Feel better now? No?

What if we moved from the line idea to the point idea? How would that change things. Well we would stop looking for a route to the source. But we wouldn’t would we? We’d just change our linear path picture. We’d start thinking about the inner path, or something like that.

It always comes down to thinking doesn’t it? How would we change our thinking to realize the point? All I have is a suggestion for an experiment. First we could change our thought language. Maybe from finding the source to being the source. At least we’d stop all that linear searching.

I think this is the answer- ” To operate as source”. Where does this answer get us? There is no way to tell until we’ve operated as source for some time. Realization is seldom instantaneous. It’s usually an acquired state. Meaning we can look back and say, “Since I’ve been operating as source, this and this and so on….”.

Here is a thought in closing. If, in the point idea, source and me occupy the same space, where does the point end. In linear thought there is always a starting point and an ending point. Lines are of no use but to connect points. In the point/source world connection is done away with and is replaced with oneness. Or – I am-ness. The point idea says, I am source but don’t realize it.

Then, where is source – not? Where am I – not? Where does “Point” end?

Am I, are we, Life? If so what are we capable of? How would we find out? How would we find out how fast our car would go? Put your foot on the gas and leave it there? Why not take the point idea for a test drive?

Too true about linear ‘thinking.’ Despite being three dimensional many of us often fall into two-dimensional reasoning. BTW, 67% of respondents in my poll believe that internet addiction is real, 5% do not, and 28% said, “maybe.” Thanks for participating!

I wonder what that 67% base that conclusion on.
