Is Life Just A Bunch of Words?
When I say this is life, or this is love, what does it mean – beyond the words. People say I had so much fun – I can’t tell you how much fun I had, or, I love you more than words can say. What if there were no words for love? What if there were no words like marriage, or friendship or kindness. I was ask to speak one time on the topic of kindness, I had to start by saying I’d never really given it much thought. I really didn’t know what it meant. I was told once that, “the problem, with you guys, is you just don’t care about anything…”. I wasn’t sure what that meant either, although I’ve spent some time looking at it lately. Can “caring” be put into words? Would it matter?
I have a feeling, or maybe I should say, an inkling, that a lot of times words define us and shape us more than we realize. What if you’d never heard of the word commitment, or emotion? Would you get married? Would marriage, commitment or emotion ever enter your mind? Here’s one – duty. “You have a moral duty to your country, your society and people….”. Before words there was no such thing as a moral duty. Today, according to information on the Kali Yuga ( see…http://www.dgswilson.com/Links/ancientWisdom.html ) we are moving out of the age of power and into the age of ethics. Remember in the Christ bible story when he they asked, “Where shall we look for you..?”, and he told them to look for a man with a pitcher of water? The water bearer is used to represent the sign of Aquarius. So “The age of Aquarius” and “The Cycle of Ethics” is here. Or, close at hand. Without words to define ethics how would we practice ethics?
This article is actually a combining of two ideas. I had this idea to look at “Portals” as a topic and the relationship between words and peoples lives topic has been with me for a while. What’s taking place at this moment is these topics are being merged into one writing. So I’d like to look at the words portal, inner voice, ethics and the eternal me ( me, for lack of a better word ). It’s fun to do away with the me in ones life. You know, the “I wants”, “I wishes”, “I hopes”. All of the “If onlys ” – Like – “If I had this I’d be this, and if this had been different I’d be…”. The “me” that stands in the way of understanding anything passed the “me” thoughts, needs and expectations. The world of the me is very small. It doesn’t extend out of the container the “me” built for itself. It is “wrapped up in itself”.
So what’s a Portal? We know what people have said. Well, we know the words people have used to describe a portal. I read that the body was a portal. I always thought of a portal as a doorway to another dimension. Didn’t you? That’s what the Sci-Fi movies and books depict and they’re mostly written using some “earthly word” ideas. How can the body be a portal? There are words written that refer to the inner self – getting in touch with the inner guide and so on. Then it’s suggested that we sit in meditation to reach this inner thing. Where’s the dimensional aspect? Is there an extra dimensional inner me? Where is it? The writings (the words) suggest that the body has some extra dimensional qualities. Does it? How is this possible?
In the world of words we get the idea that a portal is a path to another dimension and that this dimension is – out there. The inner self is says – in here - but extra dimensional suggests something else and that where it gets a little confusing. The path to whatever you choose to call it – enlightenment, connection, coming in to contact with or discovering the true self – seems to lead inward, and then – where? Another dimension, in terms of distance is where? This is where the “path” words comes in – right? Path suggests a journey, and a journey suggests we’re traveling to – some where that is not here – right? Isn’t that the logical conclusion? I think it is a logical conclusion – I also think this conclusion is misleading.
Not that the people suggesting it are intentionally misleading us – to hide the truth – but that we’re being directed to the wrong conclusion by the words themselves. How far can an inner go? Where would an inner journey take us? I’m suggesting that the words: journey, path, making a connection, opening a portal and so on are really not adequate for the topic. There “Earth Words”. Earth is a four dimensional place. I’m pretty sure if you wanted a map that would show you how to get to another dimension you’d have to get the map from someone from that dimension. Maybe that’s where the word “Guide” comes in. How would we connect with such a guide? We wouldn’t know where to look, we only have earth ideas about making contact so we might try and say something – something to get their attention. But what about the portal – the body – how might that help us?
We think of the body as being of earth and therefore of earth like dimension. Is it? How would we know? Remember we are looking through earth eyes and when we do this we see earth things, so we’ll see the earth body represented in this visual dimension. Ever wonder what makes this earth body go? You know – if you want to make something go you need to know what it runs on, what powers it. You want to use that flashlight? You’ll need some batteries. Something is making things go. If we’ve made them then we understand what makes them go – we designed them to run a certain way. What’s powering the body? How about the plant life we see, what’s their power source? Photosynthesis? Actually there are a lot of biospheres where plants live with no light but ultimately if you remove the sun from the picture all life, as we know it, on earth will die. Would we die? Our bodies would die – but what about the inner we?
This is where I think the portal leads. I don’t think we’re a earth dimensional being at all. I think we’re doing it – for some reason. That reason isn’t known to the “earth self” but it is known to the “inner self” because it is “the power” that makes the body go. So the “inner self” is this extra dimensional guidance that I’m looking for. This is the reason for the inward journey. The path to enlightenment leads me to the full awareness of “me”. This awareness establishes a connection with extra dimensional knowing and understanding. Maybe you’ll get some ideas from this writing that will help you with this journey. I understand how murky it can seem. Start a discussion…
