Free Energy: Ignorance and Solutions

We have free energy and we use it everyday. If we did not have free energy available we would all die this afternoon. The idea that free energy is not feasible, not practical, has been burned onto our brains like a brand. Like a brand it denotes ownership. We have to pay for energy because we live in a monetary system. This is a temporary system which we are moving out of now. The biggest deterrent to "not" moving away from the profit system is not the people who profit from it. It is the people who suffer under it: It is us; the majority. It's because of the branding.

We have become like the full grown elephant who is kept from wandering off by means of a small rope that wouldn't hold a goat. The elephant has been tied with the same rope from infancy. At one time he couldn't move away because of the rope. Now he stays put because of the "idea" that he can't move. Our ideas that "this is just the way it is" keeps us in chains. In fact we don't even see that we are in chains.

How much manipulation is needed to make people ignore the sun? Maybe should say ignore the sun as the source of energy? Simply put, "There is enough free energy delivered to earth each day to fuel a planet". To the sun the radiant energy needed to heat a country like Norway is insignificant. Only a minute amount of the suns energy arrives on our planet. Most of it goes right by us or is going in other directions. It's important, to the survival of our species, that we get our minds around the "Sun as Energy" idea. Well, it's more than an idea. It's - The way it is. We, the public, finance the military and corporate complex. We pay them to create energy for us to buy. Our whole energy system is one of combustion. We blow things up, burn stuff, fuse stuff. It's not because it's the only way. It's not because it's the most efficient way. That criteria doesn't enter in. We have the energy system we use because it's the most profitable way.

How many people wake up and read the "Free Energy News"? Doesn't everybody know that there is daily news results for free energy? Why? I put a feed from a "Free Energy News" site here on this page so anyone can start learning - today. We can all get the latest developments in free electricity, free energy plans, progress in over-unity, the efficient magnet motor, research in cold electricity, magnetic energy, free energy machines, free energy water pumps, free energy motors, free energy magnets and all the other free energy devices that are being built and used today.

You can get all that and start the journey to, not only understanding and accepting the idea of free energy, but learning who is working round the clock to make it invisible. What is "Free Energy"?

The term "free energy" is considered to be the net E.M.F. yield, or energy differential between the input to an electromagnetic unit or system and the output E.M.F. produced by it. Some electromagnetic machines produce an output only slightly above unity, while others have produced outputs of about three-to-one. Lately the output ratios have been rising, with a recent unit providing about five-to-one. The prospects are quite good for a continuing and steady increase in these input/output ratios.

The concept of electromagnetic "free energy" should not be considered to be the same as natural free energy sources such as solar, wind, hyrdo or geothermal energies, because these new E/M machines usually require an input energy in order to obtain an increased energy output, which the natural sources do not require. Several years ago there were only a few "free energy" devices which appeared to offer hopeful opportunities for development, but today there are at least five significant individual projects which are operating at varying degrees of over-unity output. While these various machines or devices in both rotating and solid state classes are based on classic Faraday/Maxwell principles, they achieve their over-unity output by the enhanced electromagnetic activity within the unit or system.

It must be noted that some senior physicists, in an attempt to discredit some free energy researcher's projects are proposing the discarding of Maxwell's mathematics with their new theories and operating machines. After a thorough review of each researchers work it was found that rather than the discarding of Maxwell's equation principles, these various machines actually supplement or enhance the electromagnetic functioning in each case, based on Maxwell's Second equation. Since this attempted discrediting has occurred in two distinct cases it appears to be a planned and contrived approach to putting down "free energy" efforts.

One of the major reasons that establishment physicists resist the concept of "free energy" is that the tachyon field concept goes against the Special Theory of Relativity which limits particle speeds to the speed of light. The tachyon concept (fast particles) has been proven valid based on the the findings of Professor Gerald Feinberg at Columbia University in 1967. Several of these new over-unity output machines have established the reality of the tachyon field, as witnessed by the individual researchers.

In addition to Professor Feinberg's findings on the fast particle concept, a U.S. Naval research team which was running various experiments during the 1950's recorded a spot indicator moving across a CRT scope screen at a speed of 202,000 miles per second, which could not be explained. These tests results were noted as the interaction of particles moving at about 16,000 miles per second. Aware of the constant of 186,000 speed of light standard, these experimenters rechecked their test setup, but again recorded the same results of the 202,000 m.p.s. particle speed. Since none could offer an explanation of these findings, the test results just went into limbo and were noted as an unexplained phenomena.

The result of the "Saganac Experiment" in 1913, also has never been satisfactorily explained by contemporary physicists. In this experiment two simultaneous light sources were sent in opposite directions around a closed path, and photographic plates recorded the impingement of the light sources. If the basic beliefs of relativity were correct, both light signals would have traveled these equal closed, circular paths (equal to the distance around the earth's surface) in identical times. The results disclosed that they did not!! We must conclude that a modification to Special Relativity is needed!

What's Happening

Only two countries, Denmark and Sweden, are using public funds for unclassified research in this field, as far as I have been able to determine. There are hints of extensive research in Russia, but information on their work is difficult to obtain and generally unavailable.

This lack of public support is seen as cause for alarm by many researchers in the free energy field but this is more likely just a normal way our free enterprise system works. Studies have shown that eighty percent of the major innovations in this country have come from independent inventors in just this fashion. We who study this field grow impatient with its slow progress and lack of recognition. This, of course, is nothing new. The story of Galileo, and the trouble he got into by finding that the earth revolved around the sun is well known to every school child. Little is known that Thomas Jefferson, on reading that meteorites fell from the sky, said that "I would rather believe that two Yankee professors lied, than that stones fell from the sky". His view was later endorsed by the French Academy of Science.

There we many disturbing and derogatory references to "the establishment" by people interested in the free energy field and I fed that it is important to address this up front, in the preface, so that those young people who may contemplate working in this field can appreciate their potential difficulties. My understanding of "the establishment" is that it consists of the theoretical physics community members who refuse to recognize that this source of energy exists, science teachers and university professors who ignore it in their presentations, the large multi-national energy companies that will not finance free energy research and governmental research funding people who also ignore the field. When a scientist is refuted he is presented with a forum to make his case, but when he is ignored he is rendered impotent and his work goes into limbo.

Some inventors seem almost paranoid in their fears and I think we need to include a few of the actual cases to insure that our young students be fully aware of some of the problems which they may encounter should they choose to go this route. Nikola Tesla, the inventor of the present alternating current system of electricity which is used throughout the world, was awarded two U.S. patents for radiant energy converters in 1891. He sold his alternating current inventions to Westinghouse and set up his own research and development company to develop some of his other inventions. From that period on he was generally ignored and after he went through his Westinghouse money he existed in reduced and modest circumstances until his death. Even today's physics texts make little mention of his work, and books on his life's work are now quite hard to find on library shelves.

Dr. T. Henry Moray was active in the radiant energy field in the 1914 to 1941 time frame. During this period his equipment was destroyed by a double agent, an employee of our own Rural Electrification Administration and an agent for a communist government. Afterward he was attacked three times in his laboratory, he was shot once and he and his family fired upon from ambush.

In more recent times, the late 1960's and 1970's, Mr. John R. R. Searl in England had his home invaded by government inspectors and his free energy generator (Levity disc unit) consficated. he was then prosecuted by the Southern Electricity Board on charges of stealing electricity and all the wiring was torn out of his house. In present times Mr. Joseph Newman has been denied a U. S. Patent, even though he presented affidavits from numerous expert witnesses and had several demonstrations for energy gain from his motor/generator unit to the court in Washington.

First, it should be understood by our young readers as to why the free energy conversion field is so important and why inventors persist in spite of their difficulties. The main reason is that the energy source, the raw material,- unlike- natural gas, oil, coal or uranium, is free and available the world over. Unlike-the sun, it is here both night and day in quantities beyond imagination.

Those of us old enough to remember the long gasoline lines in 1974, and the actions of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (O.P.E.C.) to rapidly escalate the price of oil know that it led to a twenty percent inflation rate in this country and severe hardships to many third world countries which exist to this day.

There is a natural correlation between the price of energy and economic growth. Present forecasts predict that there will be serious shortages of electrical power in the United States in the mid-1990's. The cost of new conventional power plants have become so high and the lead times so long that regulatory agencies have just about stopped all new power plant construction.

The beautiful point about free energy is that because it is freely available to everyone, anyone can set up their own research project with a minimum amount of money, a lot of patience and a lot to time. It is not necessary to have a multibillion dollar accelerator, a national laboratory or even a large industrial laboratory. I would like to see this Manual stimulate the minds of young people around the world and a continuing exponential growth in the number of free energy conversion projects. It is going to come because it is definitely an idea whose time has come! We human beings are naturally resistant to and afraid of change. It took our secondary education system an entire generation to make the change from the teaching of phonics and go back to it again.

Stanford R. Ovshinsky invented and pioneered the fundamentally new science of amorphous and disordered materials. But it was with his equal partner and full collaborator Iris that he founded Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (ECD Ovonics) in 1960 to use science and technology, based on his discoveries, to solve serious societal problems in the fields of energy and information - the twin pillars of our global economy.

Stan started working in the field of disordered materials in 1955. He is a self-taught genius who defied the conventional thinking, for instance, of his contemporary physicists and proved that amorphous semiconductors can exist with exciting new physical, chemical, and electronic properties. He studied the high-field properties of a large number of these materials and, between 1958 and 1961, discovered and developed the two types of reversible switching phenomena that bear his name and which opened up the way for rewritable CDs and DVDs.

Iris graduated with a B.A. in Zoology from Swarthmore College, received an M.S. in Biology from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Boston University.

Armed with Iris's formal training and Stan's genius - working as a collaborative team - Stan and Iris have created breakthroughs in four major areas: energy generation, energy storage, information systems, and atomically engineered (nanotechnology) synthetic materials. Stan's inventions in optical media, digital memory, solar energy, battery technology, and solid hydrogen storage are creating new industries - providing new jobs and feeding back into our educational system to enrich people's lives. Scientists are working in the new fields he has spearheaded, such as his pioneering work in information, on Ovonic phase-change memories and the Ovonic threshold switch.

Stan and Iris have received public recognition not only for their scientific contributions but also for their efforts toward the betterment of society. Stan has been honored as one of Time Magazine's "Heroes for the Planet." Jointly, they have been honored with the American Chemical Society's "Heroes of Chemistry 2000 Award." In 1988, the PBS science program Nova labeled Stan as "Japan's American Genius." In 2001, they were recipients of the Wayne State University "Corporate Citizenship Award." In 2005, Stan was inducted into the Solar Hall of Fame. In the same year, he was awarded the "2005 Innovation Award for Energy and the Environment" by The Economist for his pioneering work in and the development of the high-powered NiMH battery technology. In 2003, Iris was inducted into the "Academy of Distinguished Alumni" of her alma mater, Boston University.

Stan and Iris, as early as in 1960 in their storefront laboratory in Detroit, were planning a systems approach toward generation, transportation, storage, and utilization of hydrogen as an alternative power source. His science and technology of amorphous materials have resulted in the ability to make thin-film, continuous web, multi-junction material devices that can use the entire spectrum of sunlight resulting in the energy necessary to break up water to generate hydrogen. He treats energy as a system.

Stan has never allowed separation of scientific disciplines to deter him from what he clearly sees in his mind as what society needs. He uses the periodic chart of atoms as his engineering diagram to invent the possibilities that would make a difference in the lives of people. He has published in neurophysiology, neuro-psychiatry, cosmology, solid state physics, chemistry, physics, materials sciences, and so on. He is working on a computer device that emulates the neuro-synaptic behavior of biological neurons: thinking, learning, demonstrating non-biological intelligence. His cognitive computer heralds the dawn of the next generation of smart computers - new jobs, new science to enrich the society. Before Iris's death, they were working on the Ovonic Quantum Control Devices, which is believed to have the potential to replace the transistor.

Stanford Ovshinsky built his career and several industries out of two basic ideas. The first was his concept for a completely new class of materials - disordered or "amorphous" materials. The second was a lifelong motivation: "I'd like to be able to make a better world." For more than 40 years, he has combined these two ideas in the pursuit of new kinds of electronics, batteries, and power sources that are more efficient, more powerful, and less polluting. Among the inventions that have come out of this quest are highly efficient batteries and hydrogen fuel cells to power automobiles, rewritable optical storage for computers, and solar cells that can be manufactured cheaply and in large quantities. His work, especially the batteries that powered General Motors' first production electric vehicles, the EV-1, led Time magazine to declare him a "Hero for the Planet."

These Ovonic NiMH batteries enable the new field of hybrid vehicles.

Stan and Iris were married for over 45 years and have five children and four grandchildren. They lived, worked, and sustained each other's intellectual stamina and fervor to serve mankind in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Stan Ovshinsky will surely be remembered as the self-made man of enormous talent and vision who devoted his life to technical problems of great benefit to society and the industry. Iris Ovshinsky will be remembered for the concrete contributions she made for almost five decades to Stan's achievements and to the science and the technology that drives Energy Conversion Devices. They will be role models for the next generations to come.



A Battle to Preserve a Visionary's Bold Failure

In 1901, Nikola Tesla began work on a global system of giant towers meant to relay through the air not only news, stock reports and even pictures but also, unbeknown to investors such as J. Pierpont Morgan, free electricity for one and all. It was the inventor's biggest project, and his most audacious. The first tower rose on rural Long Island and, by 1903, stood more than 18 stories tall. Tesla, who lived from 1856 to 1943, made bitter enemies who dismissed some of his claims as exaggerated, helping tarnish his reputation in his lifetime. Today, his work tends to be poorly known among scientists, though some call him an intuitive genius far ahead of his peers. He was widely celebrated for his inventions of motors and power distribution systems that used the form of electricity known as alternating current, which beat out direct current (and Thomas Edison) to electrify the world. Around 1900... inventors around the world were racing for what was considered the next big thing - wireless communication. [Tesla's] own plan was to turn alternating current into electromagnetic waves that flashed from antennas to distant receivers. The scale of his vision was gargantuan. Investors, given Tesla's electrical achievements, paid heed. The biggest was J. Pierpont Morgan, a top financier. He sank $150,000 (today more than $3 million) into Tesla's global wireless venture. But Morgan was [eventually] disenchanted. Margaret Cheney, a Tesla biographer, observed that Tesla had seriously misjudged his wealthy patron, a man deeply committed to the profit motive. "The prospect of beaming electricity to penniless Zulus or Pygmies," she wrote, must have left the financier less than enthusiastic.

Note: This article underplays a number of things about Tesla. Morgan stopped funding him primarily because he eventually realized that there would be no way to charge for the electricity Tesla was generating. If successful, electricity would be available virtually for free to those supplied by his tower. Tesla was then shunned by the power elite and his rightful claim as inventor of the radio (not Marconi) was erased in the history books. As stated on the PBS website, "It wasn't until 1943 - a few months after Tesla's death - that the U.S. Supreme Court upheld Tesla's radio patent number 645,576."
